Some family bonds are built over a lifetime, while others grow stronger through shared experiences, hard work, and the pursuit of a common goal. For brothers Eduardo and Saul Murgo, working together has long been part of their story. From spending summers working alongside their mother to taking on part-time jobs while continuing their education, the brothers have shared many experiences along the way. Now, they’re continuing that journey as they build their careers at Lumbermen’s.
Saul came to Lumbermen’s first in September of 2021 through the company’s “school to work” program with Kelloggsville High School, where he gained experience part-time in the Finishing division. As he worked towards his degree at Davenport University, he continued his growth at Lumbermen’s through an internship with the Accounting department.
“I thought my first experience was a great opportunity for high schoolers, but after working here I noticed that it wasn’t just like any other job,” says Saul. “There was a change of scenery going from the Finishing division to Corporate during my internship as an Accounting intern here, but there was never a time where I did not feel welcomed.”
As Saul grew in his experience at Lumbermen’s, Eduardo, having completed his degree at Davenport, was interested in joining the company as well, and was hired by the Door Division as a Purchasing Assistant in June of 2025. “One of the main things that caught my interest in working for the company is the culture. My brother would tell me good things about how Lumbermen’s is a flexible and supportive company to work for with opportunities to grow.”
Everything came together in August of this year when Saul completed his internship and joined the Accounting team as an Accounts Payable/Receivable Associate, officially making both brothers employee owners.
“Working with my brother is a great feeling, as we have been on the same path growing up,” said Eduardo. “All of my best stories/memories somehow involve my brother.”
Saul agrees, saying, “I feel like it makes us closer in a way, we know a lot of the same coworkers, understand inside jokes, and just feel a part of the Lumbermen’s community together. One thing that I will say though, is that he always makes jokes to our friends and family about us working together and likes to tell them that he’s my boss, which cracks me up a bit.”
Lumbermen’s is proud of the success the company has seen in our “school to work” program, thankful to have Eduardo and Saul as part of our team; while witnessing how the same sense of family that connects them as brothers reflects the culture we strive to build every day.
